Kristen Marvell is sculptor that works with Styrofoam and bronze casting to display gestures of nature and transmutation that questions the normative and the presumed. His work challenges the ideas that we have of polarities and extremes by making what was static and lifeless, emotive and sensual. The manipulation process makes you question your own impact and potential, expanding your scope within a larger context. His powerful body of work has been through exhibitions throughout the world and adopted by public spaces like the Rancho Santa Anna Botanical Gardens in Claremont, Ca and City of Hope Hospital in Duarte, Ca. He works out of a expansive warehouse studio and foundry, where he cast not only his work but the works of artist such as Gwynn Murrill, Sterling Ruby, Herb Alpert, Peter Shelton and others.
